I am trying to establish or verify my records showing a Thomas Wall arrived in Maryland in the 1600's. The WALL line I am researching is said to have hailed from Preston, Lancashire, England. I recently found a record of the past MAYORS of PRESTON who had the same first names and wives surnames as in this line. My Thomas Wall is said to have died in Dorchester County, Maryland in 1700-1701. On one early ships list I have found listed _____Wall & Mrs. Wall, which is of no help whatsoever. Unverified information says Thomas came with a brother. I have also found where a indentured release was to a Alice Wall and a dau. Alice but did not list the mans name...It is possible someone paid the passage for the Wall family to the USA. I have even been told Wallville, Maryland was named for the Wall family. This is not verified..... Joshua Wall Sr. B: abt. 1655 in Maryland or England died 3/1744-45 in Currituck County, N.C. The given name of Joshua, (Josiah) Thomas & Joseph are prominent in this line of Wall family members. Joshua Wall,Jr. settled in Dinwiddie County, Va. In the early 1800's this line of Wall family members went to Tennessee from Halifax, Va. They first went to Lincoln County in abt.1814 and after 1821 to Maury County. The next generation went to the Batesville Arkansas area. Several older brothers & sisters went before him but in 1851 after the death of his father Major Wall, Grandison Moses Wall B: 9/17/1821 in Lincoln County, Tn. Migrated to the Batesville, Ark. area, He founded the Walls Ferry on the White River. Grandison served under General Sterling Price in the C.S.A. in the Civil War., returned to his home in St.James,Ark and continued to run his Ferry business, Supply Warehouse & farmed over 800 acres until 1901 when he passed away. His children, Simon Adler, Edward Bladen, James Henson & Eveline " Helen" Wall- Hatfield sold out their part of the inheritance after the death of their mother Mary Adelaide Simpson-Wall in 1906 and moved to Hunt County Texas. The oldest son Grandison Thadeous Wall with his wife & children went to Washington State and later to Wyoming. One son of Grandison & Mary's remained in Arkansas, Beverly Daniel Wall. He continued to run the Ferry for a few years until he was elected constable. He then closed the Ferry. It had been in operation for over 50 years. At one time a small settlement had gradually moved in. Grandison had run his own private mail service for the settlers of the area from the very beginning. After his death the U.S. Post Office opened an office there. The area has now declined and the P.O. even closed down. Many blood lines from this group of Wall family members remain in Arkansas today. This is my wife's line. You can contact her at this email address............. B29wendover@wmconnect.com If you have any information or relate to this line of the WALL family. Any help is always appreciated. M.S.v.R. Notify Administrator about this message?
