Hi Randall Connell, I was in chu Lai at the time of the Tet Offensive on the morning of 30 January 1968 with the start of the communist Tet Offensive. The NVA/VC force attacked all the major cities. Casualties during the Tet Offensive were enormous, though great discrepancies existed between American and North Vietnamese loss figures. In Hue alone the Communists claimed to have killed more than 1000 Americans and 1200 South Vietnamese troops. American figures showed 119 American and 363 ARVN lost. In March the noose around Khe Sanh continued to tighten. On 17 March the two NVA Divisions NVA/VC around the base launched another attack. Now the the total Casualties at the base was around 200 Americans killed and the ARVN in and around the base 300 casualties. And the total siege lasted 77 days in the area.
