Hi Nick,
I'm interested in your George died in 1904, and was the husband of Jane COUTTS. He was the son of George Riddell and Margaret Coutts.
I can let you know a bit about Jane Coutts, firstly she always went verbally by the name Jean but used Jane in official certificates. She first married one of my ancestor's brothers, Donald Farquharson and had 4 children to him, before he died and she then married George Riddell. Her father was Donald Coutts and he was a farmer in a farm called Brochduh see 1841 census, or Brochdow as it was listed in the 1851 census. First Jane lived there with Donald Farquharson and her Dad and son, see the 1841 census and then George Ridell took over running the farm see the 1851 census.
I would appreciate any info on what happened to Jane's children both Farquharson and Riddells.
