Does this mean you think your grandfather's father was William Riddell, son of George Riddell and Jane Coutts?
I'm not entirely sure if this is what you meant or not.
The birthdates for the children of George Riddell and Jane Coutts are:
1) John, b. 25 Mar 1849, Glenmuick
2) Betsy, b. 3 Oct 1850, Glenmuick
3) Janet, b. 14 Jun 1852, Glenmuick
4) William, b. 14 Sep 1854, Glenmuick
I don't know anything about William. I've found the other children in either or both of the 1871 and 1881 censuses, but not William.
