Hello there,
I'm trying to solve a puzzle here, but keep hitting a brick wall. I've searched all the usual suspects (ScotlandsPeople, IGI, etc.) but maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing. Can anybody help me solve this?
I am related to the RIDDELL family through Catherine Riddell. She is buried in the Tullich Kirkyard (Glenmuick, ABD) with George Riddell and Margaret Deans. Margaret is her daughter, and George is her nephew.
George died in 1904, and was the husband of Jane COUTTS. He was the son of George Riddell and Margaret Coutts. His brother was James Riddell, who I think married another Margaret Coutts. I don't know how, if any of these Coutts are related, and I don't know how to find out how.
I would also like to find out when George (Snr) died. I had been told this was in 1855, but when I looked this up the George Riddell who died in 1855 was married to Jane Lyall (or similar).
I know the children of George and Jane Coutts, but I would be interested to know the children of James and Margaret Coutts. I would definitely be interested to find out if and how all these Coutts are related.
The only Margaret Coutts/Riddell I have found when searching for a death in Aberdeenshire on ScotlandsPeople was born in 1852, so cannot be one of the above Margarets.
If anyone can help, I'd be most appreciative!
