Your Ponder family was from KY. Josephus Ponder and family went to Illinois during the Civil War because he was on the Union side and didn't want to fight his Confederate cousins in KY. Sally was born there 23 April 1864, in Vermilion Co. and was his only child born in Illinois. They returned to KY after the Civil War where Tabitha died April 1866. He married #2, Sally Ann Pigg in KY May 1868. Josephus must have had some fascination with Illinois as he went back late in life with his third wife, Nancy Garland Sams and both died there, buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermilion Co.
Roy Ponder was a nephew and because there were so many Lizzie's I couldn't tell you for sure who she was unless I saw her picture. She is more than likely Lizzie Sams Ponder.
What child of Sally and Frank Thompson do you descend from? I do not have you in my records.
