Now I understand what my problem what after reading Gilberto's messages to you. This is now in Ukraine. I think you should be asking questions of people on that message board. They would be more equipped to handle questions about Ukraine. When your family was living, this was part of Poland.
There is a message board for Ukraine at http://www.genforum.com and http://www.rootsweb.com. Rootsweb also has a mail list method of conversing. All their messages would go direct to their message board also.
Good luck in your search. You about to enter the biggest learning curve in your lifetime. Enjoy it.
