Hi, Kathi,
You might check in at Moffitt Field in Mountain View.
They have a little museum in one if their hangars,
detailing the LTA (Lighter Than Air) blimp program of WWII.

My Dad, William McKinley Pierson, was there around the time you are asking,
and there is an off-chance that he's who you are looking for.
BTW, his brother David Pierson, relocated to the area from Newark NJ...any relation to you?
