I am one of a group working on an official history of the Wisconsin 23rd Regiment . One of our men is George Pierce. He enlisted 9 Aug 1862 at Verona, Dane Co. WI. We think he was the son of Giles Pierce & Providence ? He d.. 20 Jun 1863 on the hospital boat "D.A. January"
This is all the information we have. If you can help us fill in any of our blanks we would be grateful. In your posting you mentioned several Census records. What place were they taken at?
