I am trying to get leads on my maternal grandfather, Adolphus D. Waldrop. He was a civil war veteran and from the information that I have been told by my mother, he enlisted in the Confederate Army under his sister's married name of Pierce. This would have been around 1864 to 18865. He was captured after the Battle of Mobile and was released at Lookout Mountain, in Chattanooga, TN. His mother was married to an Indian Chief, left him and went by her maiden name of Waldrop/Waldrip/Waldrup. The spelling that he used in MS is Waldrop. He was married 3 times and had 13 Children.

If you can give any insight, please let me know.

It is my understanding that his sister may have lived in the Birmingham area.
