Hi, I am trying to help my Grandmother trace our family name. The information I have is.... My Grand-parents Louise Marie "Paquette" McCumber (DOB 1918) & Murrell Chester McCumber Great Grandparents Rhoda Paquette & Robert L. Paquette My Great Great-grand-parents: John Joseph Paquette & Melissa Ann "Robinson" Paquette Great-great-geat-grand-parents: Pierre (Peter) Paquette Marie (Mary) "Poirier" Paquette Pierre & Marie lived in Canada and moved to Keeseville, New York before 1848. Don't know the exact year. They moved to New Orleans in 1861. The New York censuses of 1850 shows Pierre as 30 years old and Marie as 31. The 1860 shows Pierre as 46 years old and Marie as 46 years old. Can't explain the difference in ages for the 10 years. The 1850 censuses shows Pierre as a carpenter and joiner. The 1860 censuses shows Pierre as a chair maker. They had at least one child while living in Canada. My Great-Grand-father John Joseph Paquette was their fourth child and was born in New York, Keeseville, NY, (Clinton County, Ausable Township. Marie "Poirier" Paquette died in New Orleans on January 8, 1888. Her obituary gives her age as 70. If any one has any information, or can lead me towards obtaining more information it would mean a great deal to us. Thank you Cynthia Notify Administrator about this message?
