James O'Neil - Death somewhere in Canada 1915

Can anyone help?

I am looking to confirm the reputed death of a James (Edward) O'Neil 'somewhere in the Dominion of Canada' in 1915.

James Edward O'Neil born Feb 21st 1874 at 96 Bergen Street Brooklyn NYC.
Father - James Edward O'Neil (IRE)
Mother - Hannah Angela O'Neil nee Ames (NY)

Resided mostly in NYC 1874-1890 then in Akron Ohio 1890-1892. After that he travelled and worked in the transportation of cattle to and from various ports in the US to UK.

Married - Mary McArdle 14th Feb 1907 Liverpool UK, had 2 children and then deserted wife 1910 - confirmed last known whereabouts in NYC (Aug 1910).

In his Aunt's 1916 probate details (NYC) his death is mentioned as occuring "in the Dominion of Canada year last past" This is in a letter from his wife to the Aunt prior to her death in which she says she had received a visitor informing her of his death. I cannot find any death certificate for this as of yet. Have checked online provinces.

Did James re-marry in Canada and if so does his details link in to anybody else's research? We know that part of his schooling was had in Canada - this must have been prior to his living with his uncle in Akron 1890-92 - why?

Can anybody check the Ontario, Quebec, seaboard provinces for this death in 1915?
