¨ John O’Neil born 28 February 1825, Bantry County Cork Ireland. John was christened the same day at St Finbarr’s Church. He was a tailor. He married 1846, Pancras London to Ellen Murphy. They had 3 daughters. The O’Neil family arrived in Australia 10 February 1854, aboard the Agincourt, which left Southampton 11 November 1853, and berthed at Geelong 10 February 1854. John purchased a house in Maude Street, and 2 cottages in Charles Street Newtown. John died 10 December 1887, Gheringhap Street Geelong aged 62 years, due to thrombosis of liver months, ascites anasarca one month. The attending physician was Dr R. Pincott MRCS, who last saw John 10 December 1887. John was buried 12 December 1887, Eastern Geelong Cemetery Roman Catholic Area Block 30 Grave 2, with his wife. John died intestate. At administration, the estate consisted of an 11 room brick cottage in Skene Street, and 2 weatherboard cottages in Charles Street Newtown, as well as shares and a savings account.
