Your welcome Charlotte. Do you have this book? I was using Heritage Quest and decided to look up the Vail family....here is some of what I found. If you would like the whole book, I think I can download and send to you these particular pages or maybe even the whole book. Send an email to jnovak4@comcast.net if you would like me to download. I tried to convert the bitmap to text but it is a little garbled as you can see:

"Moses Vail of Huntington, L.I." : showing his descent from Joseph (2) Vail, son of Thomas Vail at Salem Massachusetts 1640, together with collateral lines
unknown: unknown, 1947, 526 pgs.

Thomas Vail, this means that he was the eldest son and by the English law in force in the colonies, the law of primogeniture, sole heir to the realty, his father having died intestate". (A.L.B. to Vos. 1906. )

Eliaabeth (Hunt?) wife of Samuel (2) Vail and his, widow in 1692 (says A.L B.) certainly on the 26th June 1695, subsequently married Thomas Gash, (Gauge) and had children by him. She married (3rd) 20th Oct. 1709 to John Griffith.

Elizabeth was a Quaker... and took a lively interest in the Woodbridge, N. J., Monthly Moorings.
Samuel (2) and Elizabeth had these four children;
1. Samuel (3) b. 1678.
2. Martha (3) b. 1681.
3. John (3) b. 1685-'Quaker Preacher'.
4. Thomas (3) b. 1695.
