William T. Mixon's Real Mother

My great, great grandfather, William T. Mixon originally from Whippy Swamp area in the Prince William Parish township in what was then Beaufort County of South Carolina, is listed as the son of William H. Mixon and Cynthia Dowling Mixon in the 1860 US/SC Census. The problem is that William T. was born in 1842 and William H. didn't marry Cynthia until 1856. I've been trying to find out who William H. Mixon's first wife and William T.'s mother might have been. Other children from the first wife were: Richard (b.1835), Mary (b.1838), and Michael (b.1841). After William T. at 18, Sarah Mixon was only one yr. old in the 1860 Census. Sarah obviously is from the second wife of William H. If anyone has any answers please let me know.
