I don't know if you've seen them, but four people on RWWC
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi
have a Benjamin, using some combination of Bain(s), Benjamin and Peddy as his given name. They all have his wife's name Cynthia. If this is the one you are talking about, it gives you some new names to use when you search for him. Two of them have him dying 9 June 1909 and buried in Siloam Cemetery, Gansville, Winn Parish, LA.

Again, if he is yours, you could try for cemetery records or an obit. He died at age 36, which means he died of accident or disease, not natural causes. If it was a spectacular accident, he may have made the front page of the Gansville paper.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~peddy/alliedfamilies-m.html
has a reference to
"Legacies and Legends of Winn Parish (LA)" by Winn Genealogical and Historical Association.
which sounds promising.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/la/winn/obm3.htm
has a bunch of Mixon obits; not Benjamin, though.
