In an old trunk which came to my brother when our mother passed away there was a muslin quilt top with many ladies names embroidered on it. Each block has a beautifully embroidered little picture as well. We recognized some of these ladies as relatives on our mother’s side but there are many which neither of us knows. It is my hope that someone out there in the genealogy community will recognize some of these people.
If you do know anything about any of these people I would be delighted to hear from you, whether or not they are relatives of yours or mine.
Additionally, the quilt top has been hand sewn with the seams on the upper or top side. Does anyone know what might have been intended as a finishing for this method?
Those in bold type are relatives on my mother’s side of the family. Ericson has the date Sept. 1940 and Korthauer has just 1940 on their blocks, nowhere else is there any indication of the date.
