Pioneer of this County - Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Mills and Fred Maze succumbed at the same time. Funerals are Friday.
Funerals of two pioneers of this county will be held at widely different points today, their deaths occuring within a few hours of each other Wednesday. Wilfred (Fred) Maze died at his home in Steubenville, Ohio Wed. evening and his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Mills, died at the home of her son, Rale Mills in Elwood, Wed. night.
Both were born in this county on what is known as the Francis McKay farm west of Sharpsville, Mrs. Mills 83 years ago, and the brother Fred several years later.
Funeral services for Mr. Maze were held at his home in Ohio, and services for Mrs. Mills were held at the Pilgrim Holiness church in Elwood Friday afternoon at 2 pm, with burial at Elwood.
Mrs. Elizabeth Mills and Fred Maze were children of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Maze, a pioneer family of the community west of Sharpsville. Mrs. Mills spent a large portion of her life in the Sharpsville community, where she leaves a number of relatives. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Fred Ebert of Elwood, and two brothers, in addition to the son at whose home she died. There are also 3 grandchildren.
Mrs. Mills was born 30 Sep 1853 and in 1871 was united in marriage in this county to Caleb Mills, whose death occured 16 Sep 1892. Her two brothers are Nathan Maze of Canton, Ohio and Edgar Maze of Wheeling, WV.
