David Maze & Lucinda Tipton did move to Alabama. In 1860 and 1880 census their youngest son, Riley, is listed as having been born in Alabama. If this is true then they moved to Alabama after their son Benjamin was born on 8 March 1850 in TN and before the birth of son Riley on 8 June 1851.
David & Lucinda did have a son John who was born ca 1833/36 in Tennessee and married 1st to Rosa Mercer. They lived and farmed around the Cullman-Blount County area of Alabama, then later moved to the Hulaco community in Morgan County, Alabama. During the civil war John served with the CSA as a private in Co D of Captain McKenzie's 12th Regiment of Alabama Infantry. Rosa died in 1884 and John married a lady named Darcus. I have no leads to her past and she and John had no children. It is believed that she was part Indian and was said to have been affected slightly by mental illness and had a violent temper. In any event, John & Darcus did not get along well together and were seperated before John died in August of 1894.
John and Rosa had six children: 1) Susan Emma Maze bn ca 1855 md William T. Moon; 2) Sarah J. Maxe born ca 1857; 3) Madora Catherine Maze born ca 1859 Blount Co, Al md Asman B. Pridmore; 4) Elizabeth Maze born 29 Dec 1860 Morgan Co md James E. McAnally; 5) Joseph William Maze bn ca 1863 md Laura Nesmith; 6) Mary Ann Maze bn ca 1866 md Isaac Jackson; 7) George Maze bn ca 1868; and Miles Cicero Maze bn 12 Oct 1873/74 md Ellen Savanna Chaney.
