Selena Mayes DuLac, Tracy Knauss and I have joined as co-administators of the MAY DNA Project, which includes MAYS, MAYES, MEASE and several other variants of these. If you or your brothers/cousins/etc. have not already done so, please have at least 2 from each branch take at least the 25-marker DNA test by going to <www.ftdna.com>, entering MAYS or MAYES in the search box, hit the RETURN key, then CLICK MAY in the list of PROJECTS and fill in the application form.

The 25-marker test gives BOTH (a) a very reliable family match and (b) the higher the numer of matches can often help validate branches and sub-branches because of the gene mutations.

CAVEAT: No DNA now known to science can tell any 2 men precisely which ancestor they descend from because we do not have DNA samples of the deceased and because of many intervening generations. But, it genealogical DNA testing cann be an extremely valuable piece of circumstantial evidence and can clearly tell almost every testee to which family he belongs (and doesn't).
