I received a list of the children of Benjamin Mays and Martha Frankye Dale, sent by a descendant of Martha F. Dale's brother, and found John Daniel Mays listed as the second son. My ancestor wasn't there. However, other researchers mentioned a book, "History Of White County,[TN]:1809-1999", put together by the White County Historical Society. There were too many mentions of Mays families for anyone to go through, so I arranged to purchase a copy which is on the way. However, 2 researchers mentioned that the Mays in White County all seemed to be related. Perhaps the book will help determine who John Jackson Mays' parents were. I have his military pension records, and have sent away for his enlistment papers, which can show more/different info.
