Robert and Joseph - DNA

I am a descendant of Joseph Mays b. ca.1725 in Virginia, probably in Stafford County. He lived in Amherst Co and died there in 1798. My father (direct male descendant of Joseph) has now had his DNA tested through Family Tree DNA, and the results are posted on the MAY Family project site. A descendant of Robert Mays (also in Amherst Co. at the same time as Joseph), has also been tested and he and my father DO NOT share a common ancestor on their male line. This would appear to eliminate the possibility of Joseph and Robert being brothers. However, there are several reasons (adoption, research error) this could happen that would not rule out that possibility. Have any other male descendants of Joseph or Robert been tested through another service? Are the results posted anywhere for comparison?
