I have a death certificate for a James John Mays, born July 14, 1858, they say VA, but do not give county; they say his father was John Mays, born: VA, but no county given; his mother was supposed to have been (this is how the registrar spelled it...it could be Polly, Palina, but it's spelled as given) Polia Catron (sic), born: VA, again no county given; is Catron the last name of this lady or has the registrar misspelled Catherine? This James John Mays died Oct 21, 1942, Powell Co, KY, and was buried there according to the informant, Thomas Mays who may have been a son or possibly a grandson...any help appreciated...Diana C.
