Lee Roy Mays, born 4-11-20, in Knox County to James F. Mays and Sarah Reynolds, states on his SS application that his name is Roy Mays South and that his parents are Calvin and Nancy (Durbin) South. From what I can gather, Calvin and Nancy had no children of their own.
I was always told that he was adopted by the South's but no one could (or would) tell me when or, most importantly, why. Roy passed away last year.
Does anyone know of this family and can enlighten me on this 'mystery'??
