The first born male child since 1854, in my specific Longshore family, has had the middle name of Leslie with no exception. In the back of my mind I remember a joke my grandfather would always tell that he was 4/5 English and 1/5 Scotch, basically a play on the fact that one of his great grandparents was of Scottish decent. My grandfathers great grandparents (born about 1795-1800) have Vermont, New York ties. The woman was named Louisa b. about 1800 in Vermont. They would have lived near Syracuse New York, until his death about 1840. From there she travelled to La Porte County, Indiana and remarried a Richardson. I'm taking a long shot and hoping someone may know of a Leslie family in the Vermont area circa 1800 who may have a lost daughter named Louisa. Thanks for any consideration! Well one shouldn’t base research on a family joke, but this might be promising.. at least it’s a lead. Notify Administrator about this message?
