I had also seen that some researchers put an 1844 birthdate for Markus (and I have it that way on my website), but I believe that is incorrect. The 1850 census shows no children born after Amelia.

The 1830 census shows another male to have been born in 1825-1830 timeframe, which would be consistent with a November 1828 birthdate for Markus, as shown for him in the 1900 census. I am in the process right now of updating the descendants of Francis Kirtley ("Jr.") and Elizabeth Powell, and will post those changes to my Kirtley website in the coming weeks.
