James Collins married Mary Kirtley, dau of Francis and Margaret Kirtley of Culpeper Co..James and Mary had a daughter, Ann, (nickname "Nancy") who married Edward Collins, Jr., 24 May 1781. They moved to Rockingham Co., VA where Ann died leaving two very young boys, John b. 1782, and James. Edward was appointed guardian. (Court Records, Rockingham Co.)In 1790 Edward Collins m. 2nd Eleanor Fairbern in Rockingham. Edward was also the admin. of the estate of Ann. The two boys inherited the two slaves, and their increase, given to Ann by her grandmother, Margaret, by "deed of gift". (recorded in Rockingham Co. Deed Bk.) Would like to share info. on Ann and Edward Collins.
