Yes, Larry, the court documents identify William J. Keith as being from Griffin, GA. Another supporting fact is that Johanna Bryan (age 9), daughter of Ann K. Keith Bryan, is living with William J. Keith and family in Griffin, GA in the 1860 census. My husband's ancestor, Calvin Bryan, was identified as a N.S.P. (New School Presbyterian) minister in the 1850 census. William J. Keith is identified the same way in the 1860 census. The Presbyterian church in the South divided into traditional and N.S.P. in the 1830s (I think) and they reunited after the Civil War. I'm not sure what the difference in beliefs between the two factions was, but it could have had to do with the practice of slavery and views on secession.

I know that there was a John Keith in Knox Co., TN at the same time as William Keith, Sr. They had children with the same names including Eveline, Andrew and Ann. In fact, one database I found has John's daughter Ann as being the one who married Calvin Bryan (marriage record says Bryant). But I found a newspaper report of the marriage that gives Ann's middle initial as K. and many other documents I found name William Keith's daughter as Ann K. including the Chancery court proceedings and the probate of Calvin Bryan who died before Jan. 1852. I don't know the link between John Keith and William Keith, Sr. but they could be brothers. William J. Keith's middle name could have been John and John W. Keith's middle name (he was John's son) could have been William. This is all speculation on my part...
