After reading your reply, I explored some records further, and I don't find a Samuel KEITH listed as son of Nicholas. Here are the marriage records from Rhea Co., TN:

The puzzle continues. In my family record I show Nicholas had this son:
Robert KEITH (b. 1856) m. 30 Jan 1895 to Mary Lee COLLINS; lived mainly at Gainsville, TX; died 1931, Ft. Worth, TX. But, there is a problem showing up. Robert's first child was Floyd Cleveland KEITH (b. 31 Dec 1884, Gainsville, TX) m. Caroline LIEDL; died 13 Mar 1965, Chicago, IL. SS#352-07-3128. Robert had 10 kids, and 6 of them were born before the marriage date given for Mary Lee Collins. Can't say if this Robert was married twice or who might have been a first wife.
