Kaga Family

Hi all..
I am the daughter of a United States Chief Petty Officer and a japanese woman. My mother was disowned from her family when she married my father so I have very little information on her. The reasons for this are pretty personal and anyone who could tell me anything about my mother is no longer living.
I have always wondered about the Japanese side of my family and I wonder if they have ever thought about the daughter that they disowned.... The only thing I know is that my father met her in Japan during the Korean War. I am going to guess that he was stationed in Yokosuka since he had the rating of "mineman" and was aboard a ship. Not sure if the fleet was stationed there at the time....
Her name was Toshie Kaga and my dad said that Kaga in Japan was about like Jaco in the United States. So, if that is true, I am hoping that the uniqueness of her name will lend some insight.
From what I have been told, she was the daughter of some high ranking officer in the Japanese Navy (I thought that the Japanese Navy was dissolved after WWII) and her grandfather was a buddhist priest. (can those guys marry?) She was raised by her grandparents when her father was stationed out of country.
If anyone can help me get a start on my search I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!
Kathy Jaco
