A while ago I was seeking information about the Rev. Samuel Hunter who was a rector in Frederick, Maryland. I have now established almost certainly that his daughter Sarah, born 7 April 1752, was the Sarah Hunter who married Meredith Helm.
But this was not the only Hunter Helm marriage.
Sarah's mother was Mary Ann Carter, the daughter of Richard Carter and Sarah Emory. Mary Ann married Samuel Hunter 16 Feb 1749/1750. Samuel died in 1758 and by 1760, probate records show his widow was now the wife of John Helm, who was the great uncle of Meredith.
And Meredith Helm's first cousin Ann (Nancy) married a man named Henry Hunter. I have not been able to establish for certain who Henry Hunter was, but Sarah did have a brother Henry born 3 Dec 1750, so I would be pretty sure this is the same Henry that married Ann Helm.
Does anyone have any further information about the Hunters, and especially the origins of the Rev Samuel?
