Alice Sharp Greer is the daughter of Wm. H. Sharp and Adelia “Delia” J. Hopkins Sharp(1), Jones(2) and the granddaughter of William Henry Hopkins b1838 NY d 1911 IA and Catherine “Kate” Moore Hopkins b 1845 NY d 1924 IA.
She had 2 sisters and 1 brother:
Ruth B. Sharp b May 1892, m Miller, son D. Leroy Miller
Wm. R. Sharp b Feb 1897, mentioned in W. B. Hopkins’s typed letter of Nov 16, 1917
as Willie Sharp in the Navy at Newport, RI
Adelia Sharp b Aug 12, 1903, d Feb 18, 1981 Milpitas, Santa Clara, CA, m Keiser
Wm. H. Sharp b Sep 1862 and Adelia J. Hopkins b May 1870 were married in 1890.
In the 1900 U.S. Census the Sharp family is living in Corwin, Ida Co., IA.
Wm H. Sharp’s occupation is listed as tinman.
In the 1910 U.S. Census the family is living in Lead, Ward 6, Lawrence Co., South Dakota. William’s occupation is listed as plummer (plumber?), hardware store.
In the 1920 U.S. Census Delia J. Sharp age 49 is listed as widow, head of household.
Wm. R. Sharp age 22, machinist. Ruth B. Miller age 27, widow and store clerk with son
Doba (Dobie?) Leroy Miller age 3.
By Sep 1924 Delia J. Hopkins Sharp is remarried to Thomas Jones living in Edgemont, South Dakota
Alice Sharp married John Harry Greer. They are listed in the 1930 U.S. Census living in Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. Her father was born in French Canada, mother in Iowa.
She was 36 years old in 1930 around the time the typed letter about the Hopkins genealogy was written. The CA Death Index 1940-1997 lists her place of death in Contra Costa, CA.
I'm still looking for the names and dates of William Henry Hopkins' parents and siblings. Wm. Henry was b Feb 13, 1838 in Springwell, Erie County, NY
