Seeking researchers who have been working on the William Hibbs (of Loudoun Co.) line, who was a member of Mosby's Rangers during the Civil War. He was born in 1817, in Rappahanock, Va., son of Joseph and Nancy Hibbs. In later years, he lived in Loudoun Co., Va. and was married to Mary Jane. They had several children, including two sons that fought in the Civil War. He was a blacksmith by trade. William "Major" Hibbs died in 1887 and is buried in Mt. Zion Church cemetery near Aldie, Va., with his wife and daughter, Mary E. Hibbs Pierson. I would like to get in touch with other researchers working on this line and other descendents of "Major" Hibbs. Feel free to e-mail me: cfordney@adelphia.net . Thanks, Cindy Fordney P.S. (Incidentally, "Major" was the name given to William by some of the younger members of Mosby's Rangers. It was in reference to his being an older soldier, entering service at age 43.)
