Kathy;
See if you find anything in this paragraph that ties your family to mine, our line also came thru Iowa.
"When William Penn arrived in America, he found a settlement of 67 family's already established at Playwicky.
Later William Hibbs moved to Byberry in Bucks Co.,PA., and became a man of influence in the community. He had a very strong character, and considered himself somewhat above his neighbors, but lived among them and helped build the infant republic. In 1686 he married Hanna Howell. They had the following children:
Joseph who married Catherine Love in 1709.
Jonathon married Elizabeth in 1714.
William married Ann Carter in 1728.
Jeremiah married Hanna Jones.
Sarah married Jonathan Cooper 1714.
Phoebe married Paul Blaker 1715.
Manna married James Cooper, and became the grandmother of James Fenemore Cooper.
William who married Ann Carter, had one son, William, born in 1737, who married Ruth Blaker, daughter of John Blaker, who was the son of Peter Blaker and Ruth Buckman.
William and Ruth (Blaker) Hibbs' son, Valentine, born in 1777, married Margaret Lyons, and their son William V. is the subject of this book. Valentine died in 1845, and his wife Margaret died in 1842.
William V. was born in Wheeling, or Wheeling Junction, West Va. in 1800. Little is known of his boyhood, except that he had a sister Mary and a brother James, born in 1801.
On Aug. 27, 1822 He married Sarah Hollett in Harrison Co. Ohio. On Sept. 1 1853, they started to Iowa In two covered wagons.They arrived at Mitchellville on Sept. 30. William V. took up land that is now owned by Central Broadcasting Co. We was an extensive land holder and at one time owned the ground that Marshalltown stands on. He is buried in Mitchellville Cemetary.
