Adrian Daily Telegram, Sunday, February 10, 2008, pg 2A Leona P. (Brown) Hewitt Obit ADRIAN — Leona P. Hewitt, 93, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at the Charlotte Stephenson Manor. Don’t let her age fool you. Until recently, she remained vital and open to this life, despite her desire to be at home with her Savior. She was born in Adrian on Dec. 22, 1914, to Floyd and Vera Brown. On April 3, 1941, she married Thomas Lynn Hewitt, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1985. Our mother and grandmother’s outgoing personality and love for the Lord drew her to be an active member of the Weston Methodist Church, the Weston Women’s Club and the Eastern Star. For years her grandchildren played with the spoils of her rock-hunting hobby. Leona is survived by son, Richard, and his wife, Sherrie, of Morenci; two daughters, Carol DeLong of Jasper and Sally and husband, Skip Sharp, of Brooklyn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Irving of Lake Placid, Fla. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. She was buried at Weston Cemetery. A memorial service has been planned to celebrate the playful, genuine and wonderful lady she was. The service will be held on Feb. 17, 2008, at the Weston Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon following.
