I am researching the Hewitt family some of whose members were residents of Whiteside Co., IL.- Erastus Hewitt of NY and Ezra Bates Hewitt of CAN.
While reading the History of Locke, NY taken from History of Cayuga Co., NY, Pub. D. Mason & Co., Syracuse, NY 1879, a Thomas Hewitt is listed under Town Officers elected Apr. 30, 1802. Also listed is Hezekiah Murdock as a Pathmaster (?). If this is the correct Hezekiah his daughter Anna married Isaiah Brink whose son Hezekiah Brink founded Sterling, Whiteside, IL and her daughter, Sarah Ann, married 3.Erastus Hewitt as well as 1.John Ogle and 2.John Wood. After searching for sometime for the parents of Erastus (1807-abt. 1880)and Ezra (1812-1885) I'm hoping that this might be a lead. Would appreciate any help and will be pleased to share the information I have on descendants which is quite a bit.
