Hewitts of Yorkshire
Posted by: Louise Robinson (ID *****3763) Date: December 05, 2007 at 08:57:28

I was wondering if anyone knows of any information on Hewitts who lived in Leeds, Yorkshire? My Grandfathers biological father was a Hewitt.

Unfortunately my Gt Grandmother became pregnant to him with twins. Because he was from a wealthy background his parents shipped him off to Canada (Or so we are told)!

My Grandmother (Mary Armstrong) eventually married a James Wardman who brought the twins up as his own. The twins were called Dorothy Wardman and Frederick Hewitt Wardman. She named my Grandfather after him as a middle name.

I am finding it difficult to fnid anything on the matter as in their generation it was a taboo subject so no one seems to know anything

Any help would be gratefully appreciated
Louise
