My great-great grandfather William Crawford from Va.married a Mary Hewett(Hewitt) .I am unable to find a marriage license but on three of her children's death records she is listed as Mary Hewett.One record says she was born in Craig County,Va.which would have been Botetourt County at the time she was born.She and William were on the 1860 census with nine children.Mary died in 1884 and William collected confederate benefits until 1905 and probably died soon after .The children remained in Botetourt and Bedford Co.
The Hewett family have been diffucult to trace. They disappeared from the census after 1840.Does anyone have any information on the Hewetts from Botetourt Co.,Va?
