Ezekiel's parents were: William and Mary (Hansford) Hewitt and they came from York County, Virginia to Granville County, North Carolina then to Georgia and they had at least one other son John Hewitt.

Elizabeth O'Shields daughter of John and Edy O'Shields. She was born about 1825 in Georgia or SC and died: Between May 1865 and December 1865 in Jackson County, Georgia. Her parents John O'Shields was born about 1804 in South Carolina and her mother: Edy ? was born about 1805 in South Carolina. Elizabeth and Ezekiel Hewitt were married on 20 December 1863 in Jackson County, Georgia. They had one daughter: Mary E. Hewitt, born: 8 May 1865 in Georgia and died: After 1880. She married Francis Marion Day, born: Jul 1862 in Georgia. They married on 10 August 1882 in Jackson County, GA.
