The 1880 census of Jackson, Shelby County, Indiana, lists Daniel Heck, age 36, born in Indiana, father born Maryland, mother born Indiana. His wife Elizabeth is 38, born in Indiana. Their children, all born in Indiana, are Clara Ann, John W., Minnie May, Elvira C (Catherine), William W., and Lydia. The Indiana Marriage collection 1800-1941 lists a marriage for Daniel Heck and Elizabeth C. Wiley on 21 Dec. 1865 in Shelby County.
In the 1870 census (same area), there is a John Heck, age 68 living with the Daniel Heck family. The older John is said to have been born in Pennsylvania.
Does anyone know anything about this family? Is the older John the father of Daniel? Did Daniel and Elizabeth die before 1900? Any information will be appreciated.
