I have a wedding announcement and newspaper clipping with photo announcing the marriage of Erma Dawson to George Marion Hamaker on 1/29/38 in Oklahoma City, OK.
I also have a copy of their divorce degree dated 5/1944 grounds due to extreme cruelty by Hamaker. My mother was granted custody of children and all property, alimony, etc.
However, my mother was hospitalized at that time (prior or after divorce date) for "nervous breakdown". During that time, children were left with maternal grandmother to live. Apparently, grandmother could not take care of children any longer and gave children back to their father. His condition to take children was that they would never see their mother again (and they didn't) and the children were to be told that their mother died (she didn't).
Following her release from hospital, she never saw her children again for reasons unknown. Also, she never gain custody of her house.
It appears from notes that I've found that she did try to search for them (Judith Ann and Valerie Ann) and notes indicate that their names had been changed (unknown) and that they may have been relocated to Florida.
I am trying to find them as I have found several pictures of them with my mother ay birth up to 5 or 6 years old.
I am also trying to determine when she was hospitalized and where and under what conditions, and for how long, considering that she lost everything by the time of her release.
Any help and guidance would be appreciated in this matter as my mother recently passed away and I am just now finding out that I may possibly have 2 half sisters alive somewhere who had no idea that their real mother was alive for the past 55 years!
Need marriage license info to find out Hamaker's family names in order to proceed any further.
