Hi, I am descended from Captain William Gerrish through his son John Gerrish that did, indeed, marry Elizabeth Waldron, the daughter of the famous Richard Waldron of Cocheco Falls. One of their 11 children was Sarah Gerrish, who was captured in 1689 at the age of 8 by the Abnaki Indians and remained in their custody for 16 months until ransomed by Sir William Phillips and returned to her family. She later died of a fever at age 16. (See "Gathered Sketches from the Early History of New Hampshire and Vermont" by Francis Chase, MA reprinted in 1970 by New Hampshire Publishing Co., Somersworth, NH.) I have a memory that she was captured at the same battle in which her grandfather, Captain Richard Waldron, died, but I'll have to look that up. I certainly have more information in various places, but not all added to my computer files (yet). If you can let me know who and what you are searching for, I perhaps can provide more information - although a lot is actually the hard work of various other people. I visited Gerrish Island and Cocheco several years ago and was able to confirm numerous dates (and take numerous photos!!) There is a lovely and very helpful Gerrish descendent that lives in Maine and has a vast collection of Gerrish information. He may also be able to help if we know what you are seeking. My grandfathers were: William, John, Timothy, John, George, Benjamin, Ivory, David F Gerrish and then great grandmother Sarah Gerrish, who married EL Kerr, my Great Grandfather.
