I earlier said that Elizabeth Gerrish MOODY had administrations in the York Co., ME courts, this was incorrect...it was from the Essex Co., MA probate records
Dated June 2, 1747 Ipswich, Essex Co., MA "To Edmond Moody 22 pounds". Edmund was the brother of Samuel Moody.
Also from the Essex Co., MA probate record 330/421- Elizabeth left "to Benjamin Moody 30 pounds".
Benjamin was another brother of Samuel Moody's, Elizabeth Gerrish's supposed husband.
There is MUCH confusion about this but again I checked the records of Marriage and it just added more confusion...
Samuel MOODEY, the 3rd, married Elizbeth GERRISH on Aug. 12, 1739 in Newbury, Essex Co., MA. Note that Samuel's last name was spelled with an "e". Also the "3rd" attached to his name was shown on their "Intent" to marry.
This would indicate that the Samuel Moody who married Elizabeth Gerrish was from the lineage line that Herb Moody's book indicated, however...there is NO Samuel Moody born to Samuel Moody and Sarah KNIGHT this Samuel being the 2nd in the lineage line from William 1 Moody > Samuel > Samuel & Sarah Knight. However, notes on Samuel Moody the 2nd (for clarity) say that he died sometime after 1709.
The list of children for Samuel and Sarah Knight Moody end at a daughter being born in 1709, but this does not mean that Sarah Knight might not have been pregnant at the time and given birth posthumously which might not have made the VR books. This is the Only slot that I can find so far where a Samuel Moody the 3rd will fit in.
He is the only one so far that follows a Samuel to Samuel lineage at around the same dates, other than the Samuel Moody born to Joshua Moody and Mary Greenleaf whose lineage line stems from Caleb Moody son of William 1 Moody.
There seems to be a grose error among these Samuel's.
Whether it be the same one or not, may never be found.
The other correction I have is that I stated that Samuel's brother was ENOCH...it was Not, it was EDMUND Moody who his wife Elizabeth gave money to from the probate records of Essex Co., MA.
