I'll try to answer some of the questions that you have previously posted: Your ? on William and "Bridget" Gerrish: William is Capt William Gerrish (Nathaniel, John, William)of Berwick and his wife Mary (Bridget) Morrell who was William's second wife. Mary Preble was Captain William's 1st wife and came from York. William and "Bridgett" are from my direct line and are buried a short distance from my home. There was another William in Dover, NH about the same time whose wife was also named "Bridgett". The two williams were cousins. The list of names that you had however did belong to William Gerrish and Mary (Bridgett) Morrell. Martha Gerrish, Born 1760: She was the daughter of William and Mary (Bridgett). She married 1st Benjamin Witherall and 2nd James Mitchell. Margaret Gerrish, bapt: 9 July, 1750: By my records she is another daughter of Captain William and "Bridget" (I have no record of Mr Emery) Margaret married Phineas Frost and they had 10 children and resided in Durham and Freeport, Maine. I'm afraid that I do not have any additional info on Samuel Moody and Elizabeth Gerrish being in Maine. They were married in Newbury in 1739, their children were born in Newbury in 1740, 1742 and 1744 and since he died in Newbury in 1746, this does not leave a great deal of time for him to have been in Maine. At least to this point I have not found any additional mention of them. Deacon John Moody: No, Deacon John was not the son of Samuel and Elizabeth. According to information that I have found, John was the son of Thomas Moody and Mary McIntire of York.(See "Descendantsd of Micum McIntire") Thomas was the son of Rev. Joseph "the Handkerchief" Moody. (added note: Joseph's sister Mary married the Rev. Joseph Emerson and was the Great Grandmother of Ralph Waldo Emerson) Rev. Joseph was the son of Samuel Moody of York who was the fourth son of Caleb Moody that you mentioned in your e-mail. Note: This Samuel Moody died in 1747 and is buried in York. (Death within a few months of your Samuel) I do have three more generations of family on Deacon John after he moved to Lebanon. Many of which ended up back in Massachusetts if it will be of use to you. I will check the information on Samuel and Elizabeth being the proprietor of Buxton the next time I get to the library. This may give us a few clues. Good luck and I hope this helps. Glen Notify Administrator about this message?
