1790 Census of Luzerne County, PA shows David Shoemaker, husband of Dama Gaylord, with a wife and 2 daughters. The daughters should be named Elizabeth and Jannitje,for the grandmothers,following Dutch naming traditions. A Jane Shoemaker married Richard Vanderpool and named two of her children Dama and David.
Although information is available on David and Dama's 6 sons, no information seems to have surfaced on the daughters. Am interested in any information which would link these families and /or verify the links. Dama was the daughter of Justus Gaylord, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth who were originally from Connecticut. Family names from the Gaylord family, including Gaylord itself, showed up in later generations of the Vanderpool family.
