It may be Gauthier-Delisle - Labarre-Genest I learned that a Joseph Labarre born 1797 in Sorel, Quebec moved to Minnesota in the 1850s and died in what is now Little Canada in 1889. His wife was Catherine Millet. Little Canada (then called New Canada) was founded about the same time as St. Paul and lies just about five miles north of it. One of their daughters, Catherine Labarre, married Francois Gauthier in St. Pierre parish, Sorel in 1848. Francois Gauthier and Catherine Labarre appear in the 1851 census of Sorel. Their son, Paul, is listed as being 1 year old. The family information in Ancestry for this son is that his birthdate was Feb. 14, 1851. I am wondering if Louis and Lucia were middle names and Paul was short for Napoleon....The MN. death certificate for Napoleon Gauthier lists his birthday as Feb. 14, 1848. Census records list 1851 as his year of naturalization. Since these immigrants spoke French as their native language, records may have been confused. Notify Administrator about this message?
