Actually, the place was called Cherry Hill - it was a community that developed on land that appeared for a few years to be excellent farm land after the stumps were removed. Unfortunately, the fertility of the land was short-lived. Apparently that left old Joe with a LOT of time to generate offspring. There is indication that Joseph Doan had been working the lumber camps out of Bowmanville.
