South Alabama Deans in the Civil War

I have begun a project to identify the Deans in the Dale Co, AL, area in the 1860 census by looking at their service in the Civil War. I am using Footnote.com to look at original records, many of which have not previously seen the light of day because the lists of the Alabama 17th that I have seen do not include many of those for whom I have located records nor are they listed in the Alabama Archives as being in the Alabama 17th. I hope that the information will help some of you. The process is a tedious one, a slow one because I have to verify and try to cross-match with known family information.
