These are my husband's great-grandparents. Walker Roscoe Cowan (23 Mar 1890 - 8 Sep 1985) and Minnie Ethel Hughes (12 Jun 1892 - 9 Oct 1985) came to San Bernardino County, CA between 1913 and 1915. They stayed there at least through 1920 (in Chino, CA; this is where they are in the 1920 census). At some point they moved on to Bakersfield in Kern Co., CA, where descendants can still be found. I believe they had 8 children, and I think the three youngest are still living. The five children that are now deceased are Gladys, Velma, Troy, Edna, and Herbert. I met Gladys in Bakersfield in 2001 at her 90th birthday party; I think all 3 of her living siblings were at the party as well (but I was fairly new to the family at that time and all the faces were pretty much a blur!). She passed away in 2006. Edna was my husband's grandmother; she married Paul James Chambers and they eventually wound up in Los Angeles County. Paul passed away in 1993 and Edna in 1999, so I never met them. Their two children and three of their five grandchildren still live in northern L.A. County.
