While looking through a book for my own heritage and genealogy yesterday, I found a quite interesting page in the book, with an article on a Cowan family graveyard. It's very peculiar, as it seems as though this graveyard has been "lost", as I can find nothing else on the Cowan graveyard, through internet search engine queries, or my own, through Sevier County cemetery records, save for this one. Anyways, here is the complete article I have found upon the gravesite: COWAN CEMETARY COWAN - A. J. 18 Jul 1814 27 Sep 1876 Hugh Thomas 13 Jan 1841 14 Apr 1874 Nancy 21 Apr 1818 28 Jun 1893 This cemetery is said to contain 22 graves marked with field stones in addition to the three above. The cemetery is shaded with trees and not badly overgrown with grass. It was only with the aid of Stella Underwood and Toy V. Cate that this cemetery was located. There is no road to the cemetary; it is located about one and a half miles from Mount Road. It is impossible to locate this cemetery unless led to it by someone who knows it. And that's all I've found on it. If anyone had any info, please reply, or if you think this has helped with the family genealogy, please reply. I am eagerly waiting any info on this site, and I will continue my searches for any useful items in particular today at the genealogy center. If I do find something interesting, I'll most likely have a follow-up post. Anyways, thank you all for at least reading this (if you have). (NOTE: The people buried at the cemetery are: A.J. Cowan, Born July 18, 1814, Died September 27, 1876 Hugh Thomas Cowan, Born January 13, 1841, Died April 14, 1874 Nancy Cowan, Born April 21, 1818, Died June 28 1893.)
